As you may remember, last June my dad rescued two 5-6 year old sulcatas and Stanley was recovering from a very nasty illness which had kept him "in residence" at UC Davis for about 3 weeks and dropped his weight to 75 lbs.
One of the things we learned by having Stanley at UCD was that sulcatas should NOT brumate/hibernate during cold months... their enclosures should be kept warm enough to keep them active.
And that's just what my folks did this winter... "pig blankets" to warm the floor, radiant heat panels on the ceiling, MegaRay UVB lamps, and PLENTY of GREAT food (collards, mustard, winter squash, and timothy hay).
Now, I don't have pictures yet, BUT in the past 6 months...
He's back up to 100 lbs!! AND he's grown 2 full inches (he's now 31 inches)!
Chloe was 17 inches when we got her in June and she weighed 21 lbs in September; NOW she's 19 inches and weighs 27 lbs!!
Alex (A.T. for Alex the Tortoise) was 17 in when we got him in June; he weighed 25 lbs in September... today he's 21 inches and weighs 40 lbs!!!
We're obviously VERY excited! Woot!! As soon as I can get to Mom's during the day, I'll get new pics of everyone.
