This is what our member has to say: i have a baby horsefield i've had him for about 3 months he is kept indoors with a heat mat and u.v light could anyone ...

baby horsefield

i have a baby horsefield i've had him for about 3 months he is kept indoors with a heat mat and u.v light could anyone tell me should he hibernate this year or is he to young and if he should how do I go about doing this hope someone can help me out as i'm getting quite worried thanks

I'm not a tort expert but I think most people don't hibernate then their first year. Some animals choose to hibernate wheither you like it or not though

now I don't know the 100% truth in this but I have heard that heat mat can cause shell rot I don't know if that is true but that may need to be thought about

Isn't shell rot a fungus growing on the shell? I'd say it would be a combination of too much humidity and a nice warm place if anything.
