Tokay and a Skunk?
Yo! I have a female Tokay in a 20 high with a waterfall, and tons of logs, tree, and greenery, so much that you can hardly see in the cage. Well my question is, would it be OK to put a male Skunk Gecko in with her?? I usually only put animals together if they are of the same species, but these two are really clos relatives, and have the same general care. I just dont want either of them to get stressed or hurt. What do yall think?

Only if you are interested in giving your Tokay a bit of entertainment and a variaton in its diet.
As aggressive as Tokays are it will probably make short work of the other gecko.

Well actually my tokay is a female, and female dont get nearly as large as males, and the skunk is a bit bigger than her, but equally aggressive. See the thing is, these two species of Gecko are soo closely related, the only thing really different is their range and overall apperance. I've seen them kept together before in pet stores with no ill effects, but I'm still not sure what I'm gonna do. I just wanted to see if anybody has had any bad experiences with these two together.

You have seen them together in pet stores because they usually don't know or don't care enough to do better.
When you say you saw "no ill effects", are you refering to the 5 minutes you spent there or the results of many months living together?

Well yeah I see what you're sayin, but not all pet stores are careless like petsmart and pet co. And the one I saw them at was a private owned place where they have a decent amount of herp knowledge and take good care of their animals. But you're right, I only looke at them for a minute or so, but you would think someone would be missing a llimb or torn up, and I didnt see any of that. Who knows how bad they were stresed though. IDK, if I end up taking the risk, I think I'm def. gonna upgrade to a 29 gallon tank, with one of them new tank extender deals for extra height. If I end up doin it, I'll let you guys know how it goes. Thanks for the input.

For what it is worth... I have a LARGE established viv with many climbing, hiding, feeding, water, etc areas... many plants... I have SEVERAL type of geckos in there (including skunk and goldens) AND three tokays. Now again, I have a LOT of space for them and TONS of hides, vines, etc. It is not something that should be shouted off the mountains are a recommendation to all new in the herp hobby, but it can be done without damage or stress to the geckos. There are risks, and there is a lot to pay attention to, but you can do it.
