i have a golden gecko, which is similar to the tokay. They enjoy climbing, so a tall would be better then a long.

I had mine in a 20gallon tall cage and it worked well. They like to have lots of cover so they can spend most of their time hiding.
They are vicious little guys who can be super noisy, thats why I needed to get rid of mine, i was losing too much sleep, but I will get them again someday when I have a herp room seperate from my bedroom!

As others have said, you should keep them in a tall viv with plenty of greenary as they are aboreal (sp) geckos.

One other tip get a young captive bred one as they are more likely to tame down lol

Gekko gecko

Gekko gecko is often found more often around human habitation than in the field, from my personal observations throughout Southeast Asia. Although I occasionally hear them and see them in the field, they are most often found near and in homes. I just had some ‘move in’. They are a highly adaptable species. If you just give it the maximum usable space (things to climb on) and plenty of places to hide as well as providing heat and humidity, it should do quite well.

I have met few people in the world that have been able to tame them, so do not get your hopes up. I would suggest buying some thick leather gloves for handling; they can give a rather strong bite for their size.
