Lol. Well here back in March I wanted to know how to remove a snake when he bites you. Well on the snake I just let him let go when he realizes that he can't eat me.

Well what you do about a tokay? He held on for about 10 minutes. Water does not work. I even held a cricket in front of him. I blew in his face.

Ouch that's got to hurt!
I've heard of people keeping vinegar in a spray bottle and spraying that. Or taking some alcohol on a cloth/paper towel and putting it in front of their nose. Even whisky or rum... whatever is handy.
Someone else may pitch in here sooner or later... You might consider wearing soft leather gloves, though.

Yeah gloves are a must lol. I knew they had teeth and love to bite.

I have nicknamed the tokay as the pit bull of geckos. Lol. Not only they like to bite but they also clamp down harder to let you know he is still there.

I always just waited it out....if they could get their feet on the ground they seemed more apt to let go, also covering mine with a towel so it was dark helped shorten my suffering.

I was kinda thinking that was what I had to do. I just don't know about using whiskey or rubbing alcohol. I am sure it works and is safe (if you are careful). But there is always a chance. Might get in his eyes. I can't take that chance.

Just keep a little squirt bottle with some whiskey in it handy. When the gecko locks on just squirt some of it into its mouth!
Many keepers of large snakes use this technique.

I don't think I'd be concerned with getting it in his eyes since he has protective scales over them, they aren't a mucus membrane like ours are.

Oh ok. I did not know that. I will keep this in mind next time it happens. But it is still a waste of good whiskey lol . Thanks of the info.

I am like moshpitrockchick, I just waited it out, the more you try to remove it from what ever part of your body they have attached themselves to, the more it will clamp down on. I use a cotton swab wet with alcohol or whiskey on it and just touch the tongue with it. whatever you do, don't try to pull it off, you will both get injured for sure. Tokays are "look only lizards", handling should be kept to a minimum to avoid being clamped on.
