I was wondering if there is any such thing as a kind Tokay? I've heard that they are not friendly, but, if possible, we'd really like to have one because we are Hungarian, the native region of Tokays.

There is an exception to every reptile character. I have heard of tame tokays...but I would assume it takes a lot of patience, handling and perhaps pain LOL....Good luck with your quest.

And who told you Tokays are from Hungary?
Tokays are native to Southeast Asia.

Well, my family is Hungarian, and I've spent lots of time there. There is a region in Hungary called Tokay, spelled the exact same way. It is wine country; there is a famous wine from there, called Tokay Wine. So, I just assumed this was a gecko native to that region, with its peculiarities for viniculture.

I sit corrected! Thanks for the info. Now I can put an end to my gecko misinformation campaign (jk).

Tokay's aren't mean, they are just misunderstood

To be honest the only nice tokay's i've ever seen have been so ill that they had no fight left in them.

They are a definite 'display' lizard not to be handled. Moving mine to clean their tank regularly resulted in blood shed.

occasionaly I see a few tokays here in orlando

I have to say there are alot of fancy tokays. NERD has some sexy looking ones. Their blues, calicos, reds, they are awesome, but I bet mean as fire lol. Greatly a display animal.
