Strange behaivor

Hi there this is my first thread in days cuz I've been a bit busy cuz im in college now! lol; anyway yesterday when I was going to feed my tokay, i sat right next to the sofa where the tank is located and he jumped to the glass and started to hit in a very soft way the glass like knock knock, and I was very puzzled by this behaivor and then when I was going to put the crickets in the tank, which were freeze-dried cuz Im using the exoterra vivicator thing, he started to eat the crickets even if the vivicator wasn't turned on! is this behaivor normal? should I feed him more often? cuz he's just like a year and make its last shed in july, also I feed him every other day like 8 to 10 crickets per feed.

Re: Strange behaivor

I've never tried freeze dried bugs. Don't know alot about them. But I can say that I wouldn't chance not giving my lizards the proper amount of nutrients, vitamins, fat, calcium ect. found naturally in a proper varied diet of live and healthy bugs.

Re: Strange behaivor

I use the ones that are from flukers which are medium large size, also I dust the crickets with Fluker Farms Repta-Calcium, and with Rep-Cal Multivitamins

Re: Strange behaivor

"Im using the exoterra vivicator thing, he started to eat the crickets even if the vivicator wasn't turned on!"

- Personally I use only live prey items (except frozen mice for my Kingsnake) for feeders. I'm not a big fan of that Exoterra Vivicator. It seems to take away the thrill of the hunt for the reptiles.

"is this behaivor normal? should I feed him more often? cuz he's just like a year and make its last shed in july, also I feed him every other day like 8 to 10 crickets per feed."

- 8-10 per feed sounds OK (though I don't have a Tokay of my own to compare to), but maybe he was just extra hungry that day. He might be having a growth spurt and his appetite has increased. If he is showing the same behaviour for the next couple feedings maybe try putting in 4-6 more crickets.
