Housing Tokays together?

This is what our member has to say: You also want to make sure they both aren't males if I am not mistaken. 2 males would fight I believe and shouldn't be housed ...

Tokays IME with keeping them together, seem to get along fine. If your new one is quite a bit smaller then the other, I wouldnt reccomend it but if their both around the same size, it should be fine. I always change the cage out and change it around before introducing another tokay and its always worked.

I don't feel this is large enough. The space would only be twice the size of him. I mean, how would you feel if you were kept in an area only 12 feet big for your entire life!

Re: Housing Tokays together?

Thanks for all of the advice! Well, here is where I'm at now: I've kept my 18 x 18 x 24 cage for my single tokay and decided against keeping a second one, as I don't have the proper heating and space to house a second one for the quarantine period. Rather, I'm trying to make Spartacus' cage look interesting and more jungle-esque.

Re: Housing Tokays together?

The Tokay Gecko is primarily insectivorous, meaning they feed mostly on insects. In captivity, Tokay Geckos will eat small mice as well as insects. The name "Tokay Gecko" derives from their loud call. Tokay Geckos are solitary animals. They will protect their territory by killing anything that comes near, including other Tokay Geckos and other species of lizards. This territorial behavior ensures that each Tokay Gecko has enough food. The Tokay Gecko will bite with little provocation.
