Somebody please tell me how you tell if you have a boy or girl toad? I really don't know much about firebelly toads beyond habitat, care and feeding.

Male- The male fire-bellied toad has fatter, bigger forearms and have bumpy-er skin, they also have a bigger, square type of head
Female- A female is usually not as bumpy as the male and there heads are more pointed, and fore arms aren't as big.

By that criteria, Toadzilla is female and Quackers is male! Maybe future toadlets... Cool! I think...

I had absolutely no luck when I tried to visibly sex my FBTs. I'm not sure if the tips listed are all that helpful, or I just stink at sexing toads, lol. The only visible sign was when my males started to develop the dark brownish/blackish nuptial pads on their forearms. Other than that, sexing was based strictly on their vocalizations. Usually males are the ones you'll hear 'chirping,' you will occasionally hear femals emit a softer sounding squeak too though... so needless to say, it can be tricky.

I'm not sure if I'm any good at sexing them either, but if you were to describe the differences between the two in looks head and forearm wise, one looks just like the boy description and the other the girl. I was surprised at how much they each fit their respective description. Of course since we are not breeding them and we already have them, I guess it's not of huge importance. I just sort of have a thing about calling something by its proper gender. My mom has a Siamese Fighting fish that is a male and she named it a girls name and persists in calling him a she... It just drives me wild, but then she is my mom so I guess it just comes natural for her and has for 44 years!
