Toadely Confused and Upset
Ok everyone knows about my totally awesome toad tank n stuff. Well some really wierd stuff has been going on lately. It all started the day I got my fireskink Togo, thats when the first toad of a total of 3 went missing. Just a little while ago while feeding everyone I noticed 2 more of them are gone. Keep in mind that there is a lid that is locked on the cage whenever im not doing anything in the tank.
So I have absolutely no idea where they could have gotten out and gone too....
I have checked under ever single thing in the house too and cant find any sign of them at all.
If the kittens happened to have gotten them would they get sick?

To tell you the truth I never knew you had toads. But anyways, some toads are very territorial. When a amphibian bites something their main intention is usually to swallow it. Is your toad looking alil bigger now?
What kind of toads did you have? Could it possibly be burrowed way down in the substrate?
My pacmans used to burrow waaaaaaaaaay down there when they were smaller.

I had 4 oriental fire-bellies No the only one left looks the same. All four were males. and some were a bit bigger than the others. I dont think OFBT's would eat each other but I guess anything is possible.

OFBTs aren't as territorial as other species. The prefer living in small groups. The don't really burrow like the horned frogs do. You've got a mystery on your hands there Ryan. The lid was closed and locked? OFBTs have been known to climb up the walls of glass tanks by using the corners. If one of your cats got them, yeah, it could be bad. Unlike the dendrobates mentioned recently here, OFBTs don't rely on insects to generate their poisons. They're not nearly as dangerous as dendrobates, but toxic enough to kill a small cat if swallowed. I doubt they'd get eaten though. Once bitten they'd release a bad tasting poison, which would make the cat drop the toad. Have you checked under the heater where you found the other guy?

And there's no holes init anywhere that they could possibly have squeezed through? Have you torn the tank apart yet to see if they're hiding inside? Weird weird weird. Well, if they're not in the tank anymore I guess I'd just keep a close eye on that heater where you found the other dude, and keep an eye on your cats. Maybe turn off all the lights and leave the room for a while, then come back in with a flashlight and see if they're wandering about.

nope no holes in it at all that they could fit thru. I know they can climb glass I have seen them do it a few times. Yes I took the tank totally apart n cleaned everything. If the cats had eaten them I think there would be signs by now like vomiting and stuff but they are runnin round like mad men. so thats good at least, i put out a container with a big hole in the side with some moist moss in it and I confined the kittens to the kitchen for the night. Im just keeping my fingers crossed.
How long can they survive without water does anyone know? They havent eaten in a few days, it was when I was going to feed them I noticed they were gone. and I did a "toadie check" a few hours before when I misted the tank down after I had done Togo's tank.
