It's gone

I guess my 2 year old son let one of my fire bellied toads out of the tank last night while we were sleeping. He has a tendency to wake up at all hours of the night and get into mischief. Anyways I am on the hunt to find it. Hopefully he put it in the anole tank like last time. I did see one of my anoles bobbing its head in a threatening display while no other lizards were in the tank and I thought that was kind of strange. Hopefully after I rip all the plants out it will be in there.

Re: It's gone

Time to invest in some LOCKS. lol

Good luck finding him. One of mine got out, and the cat "found him" fortunately just watching, he was unharmed.

Re: It's gone

Update: Well I found my poor Fire Bellied toad that my son lost the other night. Lets just say he went to froggy heaven. Poor toad!! I guess he died the worst way possible for I just found him in my shoe. At least he probably died fast since they were an old pair of gym shoes and I must admit they don't smell like roses. LOL!!

Re: It's gone

Definitely time to invest in a manner to prevent this from happening again. A cinder block might be enough to discourage a two year old...

We wouldn't want him handling a toxic frog and then putting his fingers in his mouth because he's into things while you aren't able to watch him.

Re: It's gone

not sure how nimble his little fingers are, but I believe Merlin had a photo of his Bally Python tank and a fabulous way of shutting it with industrial strength velcro.

Re: It's gone

I think I am going to check out Merlin's Velcro idea. A cinder block sounds good but that wouldn't keep my son out. I did use bungee cords but found it to be kind of dangerous.
My son just loves reptiles and amphibians. I guess curiosity+ignorance=future knowledge.
I mean who hasn't forgot to put air holes in a jar when they were little and you know....

Re: It's gone

Sorry to hear about your toad :-(
I used to catch anoles all the time when I was little and Id put them in empty tubs of butter with no air holes and a little bit of grass...I know Im guilty of it :-$
