Re: Please help me with Toad Slime!
see, eggs are the only thing I could think of! i didn't find any problems pertaining to "slime" and then the only thing of any sort of clear jelly substance was eggs.

Re: Please help me with Toad Slime!
No spots in the slime, and the slime is not clumped into spheres, it's just coating the rocks and plants that are below the water line. The water is still testing just fine, and there is frog crap all over the place. They all acted like starving men at their last meal when I dropped their crickets in tonight. I have no idea what's going on with the slime, but they all act normal so I guess there's nothing to be done about it.
Now, how can I make the skinny one fatten up? I've ordered some wax worms and they're supposed to arrive on Saturday. Think that will do the trick? I really noticed how emaciated she still is when she was sitting next to the male. Her name is Chance. The male's name is Chubby Lumpkins, and the other female is Pollyanna. Anyway, Chance looks like a Holocaust victim. |

Re: Please help me with Toad Slime!
Could you try feeding chance separately from the others? Either take the other 2 out, or take chance out and put her in a feeding container, that way you know how much she eats.
It would also be a good idea to get a fecal sample from each of them one way or another and have a vet check it for parasites. |

Re: Please help me with Toad Slime!
well, not if they crap all over the place LOL
If you can, i would pull whatever poo is sitting out without water changing. Like if they went on land, scoop it up, or if they went in the water, use a spoon with slots to get it out. Is there any way to take a paper towel and towel the slime out? Also could you snap a photo of the slime, since I don't see it in any of your other enclosure pics. it may take a few weeks to fatten her up. I noticed one of my frogs was rather thin and after a fecal proved aok I just started letter her get her fill (whereas if I let my other frogs do this they would be fatties). After about feeding her more for about a week, she is starting to fatten up. She finally took a worm so I'm hoping this helps.

Re: Please help me with Toad Slime!
You have a point there, but who's to know which turd belongs to whom? *I just cracked myself up*
Anyway...How stressful do you think it be on the old girl to net her and feed her separately? Another concern with this is that the 2 months I had her prior to getting her little buddies, she barely ate anything at all. I would put in 3 or 4 crickets every other day and she would eat maybe 1 or 2, if that. Sometimes none at all. At least now she's going for them right away, she just has no aim whatsoever. The slime is invisible. The only reason I even know it's there is because when I was vacuuming the gravel, I knocked down some of the big river stones and tried to pile them back up. Bleh! And I don't relish the idea of tearing the whole tank apart to clean every rock, plant and gravel in there. Right now it's a thin film over everything below the water line. If I have to tear it down, I will, but I won't enjoy it... ![]() |

Re: Please help me with Toad Slime!
huh, thats really icky. I would still talk to someone at a good fish store about this slime, since it seems to be a water problem and not a land/frog problem.
