Question about feeding FB's
Can you feed Fire bellied toads, feeder guppies? As long as they are of good quality? I know Ive heard of feeders being overbread and unhealthy. But the fish store that I go to has a reputable supplier and they seem to be of good health. I am just thinking of varying their diet a bit. I wouldn't do it all the time, just once a week or so. Or should I just not do it at all?

You could give it a try I guess, but I've never heard of anyone having luck feeding fish to Oriental fire-bellied toads before. It's not so much that the fish would be bad for them as a treat, it's just that I don't know that they'd even try to catch them, or how they would even be able to if they did try. Fire-bellied toads can't extend their tongues like other anurans, so that would add to the challenge.
You're welcome to try though, but I would only get a very small amount of guppies (like 3 or so, depending on how many toads you have) and test it first. If they cant catch them, or don't even try to, you could put the guppies on land and the toads may be more inclined to snap at the flopping fish. Ultimately, there's really no need for the fish in the diet. If you do try it let us know the results though!

Not sure maybe they wouldn't try to catch them. But I know they will go after anything that moves in there. They chase after the algea scraper when I clean the glass, not just chase it but try and eat it. I suppose there really isnt any need for fish in their diet, just thought I'd do something different. I watched the fish store feed there pirahnas, and started to wonder if the FB would eat them. The fish store doesnt have many options of moving food. They dont have a large selection of reptiles. Its mostly fire-bellied toad FBN and turtles. They have maggots but they may not move fast enough to get the FB attention.

If you think they'll eat them then give it a try. Fish aren't necessary if the toads are already getting a healthy diet, and the biggest problem is that petstore fish are seldom of very good quality. However, as long as the fish don't pass anything on to the toads they could prove to be a beneficial addition to the diet. It's really up to you.
