I went a little nutty today and decided to get a new tank and setup for my firebellies, let me know what you think:






I had them in a 10 gallon tank, 60/40 water/land. I had a few plants, nothing crazy, just some bamboo and some stuff I bought at petco. The new tank is a 30 long, natural river rock substrate, plants out the wazoo (ill have to ask my friend what it all is, he works at the pet store and just told me what to get), i have Bulbs for lilly pads planted but they havn't grown yet. Exoterra fogger, TerraFauna Waterfall Filter on the right, TerraFauna ReptoFilter(from old Tank) on the left surrounded by rocks to make another waterfall. I think it looks pretty cool, and with all the plants and dual filters water changes should be kept to an absolute minimum. Ill probably get a few more firebellies, i only have 2, and some guppies for the water part.

Looks nice! I'm planning to get some FBTs in the future. Do they have enough land/land hides in this setup? I can't really tell from the pics, and I'm not actually sure how much they need in that dept. Your setup looks really attractive!

Well the tank is technically 50/50 right now, the front half is water and the back is built up. They seem to spend most of the time in the water, Well 1 does, the other one hides out for most of the day, so I think its sufficient. I read somewhere that a 50/50 or 60/40 water/land split is the best. They only eat on land, but mine sit by the waters edge and wait for a cricket to walk by and BAM. Heres a few shots from the top, you can see where the fogger is, hidden under some rocks. As the plants grow in more they will have more places to hide.




I know the land area is wet, but my toads hated dry ecoearth, they refused to go on it. In the last tank the ecoearth was constantly wet and they loved it so I made this tank mostly wet, with the dry area on the top of the waterfall filter. I freaking hated ecoearth, it would clog up the reptofilter every 2-3days, and basically made that tank a chore.

Ahh, now I see! Those pics make it much clearer, thanks! It really looks neat! How did you build up the back? Is it stacked flat stones?

Yeah it was a blast, the only thing that was tiresome is the fogger, if you leave it up to its own devices, you can't see anything. Tryint to get the perfect amount of fog took at least 3 dozen tries, and moving it around 15 hundred times but its where I want it right now, and I will never move that thing again. So that my christmas present to my frogs, now my G/F is SOL but oh well.

I went to home depot and in the garden section they sell river rock for gardens. So I built it up with the gravel, then I used slate and flat stones(again from home depot) to level it out and hold it up. Under the hide is a large flat piece of slate for the 1 toad to hang out on.
