Thinking about building a wooden enclosure for a BRB, have a couple questions.

1.What is the best way to waterproof the wood?
Ive seen a few saying to glue linoleum or acrylic to the interior, but couldnt find acrylic sheet rolls(paperlike) at home depot...
Seen a few about staining and painting; dont like this idea.
A build on here was talking about using melamine wood and then there would not be a need to waterproof.
    Is melamine waterproof?

    2. Can heat pads be placed on acrylic sheets(glasslike panels), or would it be better to buy glass?
Want to cut a hole in the bottom of the enclosure and attach the undertank heater there.
Dont like the idea of putting a heat source on wood.

    Any suggestions?

You could use minwax water based polycrylic to seal the wood idk about melamine but you could also cut a hole and use tile
