    I need to purchase a small amount of vermiculite and I can only find it in the gardening section - None of the brands claim "Organic" which brands are safe?

    You could always try a hydroponics store! Is it for gardening or eggs?

    I think as long as its dust free and kept moist its fine to use, I wear gloves and a mask when using it dry.

    Here is an article on vermiculite;

    Vermiculite is expanded mica, a stone. SO essentially its all organic by nature.

    I am worried about additives (fertilizer) since it is from the gardening section and suppliers can't seem to let nature be uhm, natural. I just hope the labels are clear!

    I have never seen fertilizer added to vermiculite. It is used as a soil additive and for rooting cuttings. And for rooting cuttings you definately don't need fertilizer in it.
    And if there were fertilizers in it you can bet that they would proclaim it on the package,...
    and raise the price!
