    Hi there,
I was curious about lighting for a red foot. He's to big for a reptarium and spent most of his time outside till now. It's chilliy now. I have a kid's pool in my living room. He still gets some free time, and when it's ok outside I will still put him out. But what do I do for temps inside. I have a clamp light for a hot spot, but am leary to put a hot lamp for night time cause he burrows into the hay pile for bed. What do you guys do for larger torts. My russians are in a large cage and have the day lighting , heat and uvb ,etc with my beardies. seems temps are good there. Any thoughts? Nadine

Hey, I have a baby snapping turtle and he uses a UVB for heat. He loves to bask in it. I changed his encloser today and he likes it a lot! Welcome to Herp Center!

What type of UVB do you have? Fluorescent UVBs don't produce enough heat to be used as a basking light, and most UV basking lights are only UVA. The only UVB that can double as a heat lamp is a mercury vapor light.

Today I got a normal heat lamp with my UVB light.
