I was wondering if it would scratch the exo terra foam background. Im not planning to use crickets so im not worried about that but I was wondering if it would scratch the foam or not.

It definitely could but it would have to spend a lot of time trying to climb the background to do so and I don't really see that happening too much. I have one in my knight anoles cage and he has absolutely shredded the top half which he climbs around on.
What size exo terra do you have? You'd need one of the larger, shorter, and longer ones for a leopard gecko. Floor space is good.

I have the 18x18x12 exo terra and multiple hides and a heat pad.
