Velvet delivered 3 little ones yesterday. We weren't able to catch the birth on video. She took her first meal since ovulation last night and will get a year off from breeding. We still have a basin project that is due in late November/early December. Anyway, here are a few pics.

You think it's such a good idea to have the tank in front of a window?

Those are northern babies. Look at the forum around the end of November/early December and you might see some basin babies. :)
This girl is due around that time.

    Hum, let me think:
    1) Been there for 7 years
    2) This is her second litter
    3) She eats like a pig
    4) The cage is made of acrylic
    5) The windows are tinted

Uh yeah, I think it's a good idea.

Hi, just a slight correction: those are not chondros (Green Tree Pythons), but Emerald Tree Boas: Because they are arboreal and look a bit similar, they are often confused by a lot of people, but they are COMPLETELY different animals. For example, these boas give birth to live babies, Chondro pythons lay eggs. ETBs also have bigger fangs and are rumoured to have nastier tempers than most chondros... (although "Biaks" are kind of nasty too.)

Congratulations Dogboa: BEAUTIFUL babies!! (and BIG too!) -- Is she done or are you expecting anymore to come out? Glad the Mom's already eating for you again... she'll need to get her reserves back up.

Great job!!!! :D Can't wait to see more pics.

Thanks for the congrats! :) And the clarification since I wasn't going to make the correction due to this being an arboreal boa forum.

Mom's done, this is her average litter (3) and what she delivered the last time we bred her.

I'm sure that there are many individuals that have a nasty temperment, but in general that is exactly what it is, a rumor and is probably attributed to WC animals.

    Hi Dogboa
Glad to hear that it's just a rumour about their temperments. I have Chondros and love them... but ETBs are VERY cool too, but that scared me off a bit in the past. Hopefully there will be more and more successful captive breeding of these beautiful animals.
Three doesn't seem like a huge clutch.
When I was planning to breed my Marajo Island Rainbow Boa, I read she could have between 12-35 babies! I decided to re-think my breeding plans for a while. I still might, if I could borrow a male just for the breeding instead of buying one.

Well done again, and good luck getting them feeding, etc.
