Well I cheaped out and went with the white sheeting. It was half the cost. We've been cut down quite a bit in hours at work so I have to skimp a little to pay for it all. So that's what I'm working on right now.
I'll post a few pics of that.
Also got my glass in so I'll be installing that as well.

I am kicking myself today. Yesterday one of our customers came in who travels the world sculpting and doing other artisan work for churches and other places. I SHOULD have asked him for tips on sculpting my styrofoam as he does amazing work.
He is a super nice guy and wouldn't likely charge me the $150+ an hour he makes.

Here's a shot with the glass doors installed on the aluminum track. They slide soooooo much better than the plastic track.

I've begun sculpting the foam background. First I will make all the ledges and attach them. Then I will carve the back itself to give more detail. This will probably take a while.

It's progressing a little slower than I would like.

I know how that is - but better to take your time with it and get it right... :)

    LOL! Don't they always!
But at least by taking it slow you have time to get it all right!;)

Yeah but as usual I already thought of something I should have done different.
I wish I had a flip down door with the sliding doors above it. Would have been a little more secure at feeding time.
Varanus tristis are a little jumpy sometimes and could fly right out the open door.
Won't be too much of a problem when they are adults. But right ow I could lose them if they did.

Good idea. Couldn't you still just cut one out?

Possibly but I would have to incorporate another cross member and cut the tempered glass cut down. I think I'll leave it as such unless later it becomes a problem.

Yes I'm still working on it. Little by little it's coming along.

The rock background is in progress. A few more coats to go and then painting it up.
I went searching for hollow logs. Note minivans are not for off-roading.
Came up empty so I'm researching other alternatives.

Were you able to get the aluminum track at a local hardware store? or did you have to order it?

I'll be needing some soon myself for my own projects.

I searched and searched and searched for some affordable aluminum track. I finally found some from a supplier at work.
All the pieces for $90. They came in 12 ft lengths, so I have some for my next project(hopefully not in the near future).

Yes the cork tubes are awesome. I will have to get some at the next show if can find appropriate sizes.
Varanus tristis often mate inside hollow logs. Easy to find in Australia because of the termites.
I did find some climbing pieces out in the bush. I really sweated to pull those out.
    Hope these monitors appreciate it.
I'm having an issue posting pics lately so bear with me.

It`s o.k. Mike, I suppose,.... especially as we all know, you`ve absolutely no artistic talents!!! :D:D
Oh,well, if I really HAVE to say something nice... you`ve done a great job,and I really hope your breeding plans work out. ( I`m sure they will!!) ;) Are you looking for sympathy Michael? (Quote) "I really sweated to pull those out" ????

Yeah some love from the Tristis.
Here's the limbs I got so far. Just some variety to see how it all goes.
Also a pic of the male. He's 20" already. Going to be a big boy.

So I put in two 100 watt lamps.
One on the ceiling and the other a little more than halfway down.
I'm not getting the heat I want out of them. Probably because they are just floodlamps and not halogens.
I'll have to see if what I have for halogens laying around.
