Visited my parents out in Folsom (Sacramento), CA and found a ton of these tadpoles in their backyard pond. Tried Googling a bit to find out what they were with no success. Does anyone know if this is a toad or frog tadpole? If so, what species is it? Thanks for your help in advance! :)

I'm not a frog expert, but I googled frogs and toads of California and I think that those might be Pacific Treefrog (Hyla regilla) tadpoles.

:D Yo go out with a torch and see what are about at night makes a change from watching telly. This will help narrow it down to a few possibilities as tads are hard to identify:)Or wait tll they change into liile frogs and post us a picture;)
    Have fun

The body is a little over 1 cm (without the tail). They're not very big at all. That is one of the largest I've seen in the pond.

Piano Man: I thought they looked similar as well but wasn't sure. :)

    Thanks everyone for the help!

Too small to be a bullfrog tadpole -- they are HUGE. He looks similar in shape to the tree frogs I hatched, but of course I'm on the east coast. But they have similar mouth and tail shapes - so I'm going with it is some sort of tree frog. (that's my guess)

And he was eating very well before you found him -- that's a big poop he's working on there;)

I'm 100% sure it's a treefrog tadpole, but I can't tell which species, I'm also on the east coast...but believe me it has treefrog caracteristics. Just chek out a list of california treefrogs, you'll find it.
