Hello I have just rescued a ball python and the guy I rescued it from said he thinks it is a female. He also said that it doesn't have a name. I want to give it the right name but I need to know the sex, I am wondering how to find out. Thanks,
    Chris

There are a few physical characteristics of BP's that distinguish male or female, but the best way is to have someone probe it.
Length of tail and spurs are what you need to look at, if you post a pic We'll try to help you.

The length of the tail as well as the size of the spurs is never an accurate thing to go by, its better to have it probed by someone who knows what they are doing. Young enough they can be popped though..again only popping and probing should be done by someone experienced at what they are doing, otherwise there could be injury done to the snake.
