Of course, I'm pretty much doing the same thing with my plans for a leopard gecko...
Steph the problem with just stacking rocks is if the snake moves part of it it could fall on it.
These were pretty heavy and I don't think he could have moved them -- but I got a fake rock hide today at the petstore and took the others out (just to be safe). He is still hiding behind it, but his head is stuck inside through the back door...
The UTH is still reading too high (I think) -- it's 97ºf right in the middle of the basking spot. And I added a Zoo Med Repti Temp Control, and it is dialed down to almost the off position. (It was at 107º) When I needed it on my Leo's UTH a while ago, it worked nicely.
He is only on paper, so there is really nothing between him and the UTH. Could that be the problem? Should I maybe put something in the tank, like either the reptile carpet or a piece of slate and then cover it all with the white paper?
