Since I changed the substrate from soil in sand they don't lay eggs in the sand why is that???
Not sure what a silent brown cricket is. But maybe the sand is too dry.
Why did you switch from soil? Soil works pretty well in my experience if kept damp.
The soil get mold and attract flies the sand is moist
I've not heard anyone using sand to raise bugs, in the wild they still hunt out leaf litter (dirt) to lay eggs in.
