I had a heating pad under my ball pythons tank (along with a heat lamp) to keep the temperature high enough, but even with a thermostat it was making his belly red so i immediately turned it off. Should I get another lamp or is there another way to keep the heat high enough? Thank you :)

What are your temperatures? A ball python's belly will turn pink during shedding.

He just shed a bit before, so I don't believe that's why. His warm spot is 85-90 degrees fahrenheit and his cool spot is 70-75 degrees fahrenheit.

    Thank you :)

If the basking spot is only 90 degrees it is not hot enough to burn. What type of device are you using to measure the temperatures?

I use some thermostat I got off Amazon. I can check brand and specifics once I get home.
