    Hello everyone,
I have been looking to get a couple fire skinks, and I would like to be able to handle them. I know that it depends on the lizard, but I have also heard that if you raise them from a baby that they will be much tamer. However, after a couple months of looking, I have not been able to find any babies for sale and am considering just getting adults. Do you think they would settle down with time, or should I wait for the babies if I want a more relaxed animal?

From what I gather they are known for eventually becoming quite manageable. If the opportunity arises try for captive bred. Of course I think most I've seen were field collected. A nice enclosure with front access will ease the handling process. Nothing likes being approached from above.

They can be handled but on their own terms. They're a burrowing species and surely wouldn't like being dug up.
Take it slow, and don't force anything.

If you look up "Small lizard taming" on YouTube there's a great video on the subject.
