I own an eastern painted turtle and I started noticing brown discolored spots on his shell. It can't be removed with me cleaning his shell lightly. I was wondering if this is the pattern of the shell (it wasn't there when I bought him) or if it could be some type of fungus or algae. Should I be concerned enough to bring him to a vet?

    I would think shellrot also.

I pray that it's not because I only had him for a month. Now, will shellrot make the shell soft? because it's not, it's just discolored.
