Disinfecting Cork Bark

I got cool piece of cork bark to put in my leachie's tank but I'm not sure how to disinfect it. With the drift wood, I just baked it in the oven. The cork bark is thinner, or at least less dense, so I didn't want to put it in the oven and have it burst into flames. I've also got chlorhexidine too if the oven is a bad idea.
I ask this because I lack common sense so sorry if this seems like a DUH answer :)

Soak in a 1:10 bleach solution, for a few hours. Rinse well. Rinse again. Rinse again. Let air dry a few days.

    Clean.

A brief stint in the oven won't make it burst into flames. 350 for 10-15 minutes. It takes over 400 hundred degrees to ignite paper.

Boiling water or (depending on size) soak in water and then place in microwave briefly.
