CAl Kings get 4-5 ft long.
A 20 long tank will do just fine and the care is basically the same as for cornsnakes.

In my experience they are a bit nippier than corns.

Cal Kings average about 4' but people do have some that reach 5'. Put him in a 10 Gallon until he is about 25" long. Then I would move him into a 20L until he is about 40". After that I would suggest putting him in a 40 Breeder which will last his entire life. Like Merlin said, they can live in a 20L but I suggest going bigger. Just my $.02
