Here are a couple pics of a juvie black rat snake.

The flash on my camera drowned the color out on it in this one.

GREAT COLOR! I have a year old Black Rat who has washed out patterns. Not jet black, and not fully patterned. The least attractive of my snakes, but my second favorite of the collection (behind my Eatern King).

Very attractive snake. Is it yours, or did you collect it just for the pics?

He's very purdy, like the total blackness thing.

I have a black rat coming within the next few weeks! I just hope it grows up to be as black as yours! You have a beautiful snake there! :D

I know that wild Black Rats have a fiesty reputation, but my CBB Black Rat is so calm. She is about 3 feet now,and is as docile as ever. Only rattles her tail once in a blue moon, but has never struck.

My juvie shed today, I went to take out the she and it struck at me closed mouth! This snake has never attacked me before LOL. I'm going to feed him asap I think thats the issue. I wish my black rat was as solid black as yours oh well.

Juveniles start out grey. The older they get, the darker they get. Give him time and he'll blacken up ;)
