Best Substrate

    I'm getting a pair of mali uromastyx and a pair of giant ( sudan ) plated lizards and would like the pros an cons on a organic substrate. thank you. what type would be best for both

    From listening to this debate many times on this board, i think the general consensus is a mix of organic potting soil and sand. It allows for good burrowing.

    I know nothing about the Plateds, but as what Liz said about the Mail's I agree with.
    Mail's require a moist burrow retreat.
    Covering the substrate in many area with slate or pieces of plywood maintains the moisture longer.
    You want the moisture below and the surface dry.
