Summer Palace Enclosure Construction

 

This enclosure was designed by George Buce and was created for his Water Dragons. This custom enclosure is magnificent and could easliy be used with green iguanas and other larger species as well.

The Summer Palace is located in my basement office in (what was) an unused nook. The original blueprints called for the lower floor to be an in-law's apartment, so there was a kitchenette nook approximately six feet square. It had the plumbing for a sink laid in, but the kitchen was never added. One of the things I hate most about keeping Water Dragons is the constant changing of pool water; lugging buckets isn't my idea of a fun time! Here was an opportunity to directly plumb the cage into the house water system! All I needed to do was build a front face across the nook and I would have a huge cage! Well, it got a little more complicated that that! I had the foresight to shoot about a dozen rolls of film documenting the project, so you now get to view what I came up with!
