Re: Please Help!!!
that looks like an eastern milk snake, they look a lot like corn but theres differences in the face, they grow to about 3-4ft; eat mice, birds, lizards, and other snakes; and are usually very aggressive and tricky to get to feed in captivity. and no its not dangerous.

Re: Please Help!!!
If you found it I would strongly recommend releasing it. Wild caught reptiles really belong in the wild. There can be stiff penalties for removing them in some cases.
If you choose to keep it, against my urging, you really shouldn't be trying to feed it. It will definitely need time to adjust first.

Re: Please Help!!!
I agree, it does look like a juvenile eastern milksnake.
More pictures would help though. Do you plan on keeping this little one? If you're thinking about it i'd read over these, Milk Snake Care Sheet and Information - WNYHS Eastern Milk Snake (Lampropeltis triangulum) - WNYHS Captive Bred reptiles - Captive Bred vs Wild Caught Reptiles

Re: Please Help!!!
I really had no Idea that this snake was indigenous here in New York, because I have never ever seen this kind of snake outside. I personally thought that it was someone's pet that got loose. If it can do better out in the wild then I should let it go, I thought I was helping it out. What do you think?

Re: Please Help!!!
Releasing it would be best; a lot of easterns don't adjust to captivity well.

Re: Please Help!!!
Wild caught snakes can have a variety of issues when attempting to adjust them to captivity.
They view humans as a threat and as such they will be difficult to handle. They may be carrying disease and will be carrying internal parasites, the stress of captivity causing the parasite or disease to get the upper hand. They may have trouble recognizing lab mice as a food item.

Re: Please Help!!!
Thanks everyone for your help and your quick reply. I will be letting the snake go, the only reason I took this snake from the wild is because I did not know what kind of snake it was and I was extremely curious. Thanks again
