Thanks for all the responses. That was my gut feeling. I haven't heard anything from the mom yet but wanted to have my argument in place just in case. The principal had already made a statement that the snakes might have to go after I got bit. But she never came to me and I was prepared for that conversation.

Google has returned no information reguarding respiratory distress in children caused by snakes. I'll keep looking though.

I'd like to add that in the last 2 to 3 months my youngest son has been ill. He has been to numerous specialists and most were at Kings Hospital of Childrens Daughter in Norfolk Virginia, one of the top childrens hospitals in the U.S. EVERY doctor and specialist that saw him I came directly out and asked if the reptiles could be a possible cause (I have many) EVERY single doctor said "He does not have salmonella so you can rule the reptiles out" I tend to agree with them.

I have been seeing a Pulmonary Specialist the last couple years for asthma and allergies, and he has never said anything about respiratory problem from reptiles.
