Re: I Just Wanted to Share
That story has actually been circulating for quite some time.
And it was generally recognized that this is a tragic accident waiting to happen!

Re: I Just Wanted to Share
I keep reading about what a special "bond" the boy has with the burm because it grew up with him. It sounds sweet, but it doesn't change the fact it's an affectionate bond from the boy to the snake and a tolerance bond from the snake to the boy.
However, if that burm ever decides it's hungry, that boy is going to be lunch in seconds and there is nothing anyone will be able to do about it. Sadly, they will kill the snake. This is one animal they had better be feeding regularly and WELL!
The stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me.

Re: I Just Wanted to Share
I wish people would realize that reptiles don't bond with people the way that people bond with them. It would save everyone so much misunderstanding and grief. The only way we can really get along with these animals is to accept that, and respect the boundaries that they have as wild animals.

Re: I Just Wanted to Share
So... I generally try to only feed my snake rodents, but I guess it is cheaper to just feed what you have around the house.
I hate to say they should have their pet taken away, but it really is just a matter of time till it eats something other than its 22 lbs of chicken each week. What is truly sad about this article is that sometime in the not so distant future we are going to hear about a vicious unprovoked snake attack on an innocent young child. There will be all kinds of accounts of remorse and people saying that they never saw this coming and of course despite their best efforts to save the boy, he was killed and as a result the unruly snake had to be put down.
It really is sad, but all these people who irresponsibly keep large snakes seem to get headlines and all the articles may as well be form letters, and yet they always make the front page. Never the responsible owners who have had these snakes for 15 and 20 years with ideal set-ups and great looking snakes.

Re: I Just Wanted to Share
B & C, That disgusts me on so many levels....
I for one do think it is rather foolish, even if the snake never does try to harm the boy, accidents happen, but regardless I do hope I, and all of us here are proven wrong.
