Downside first: this book was printed by a small press and with lavish use of colour. Add to that a relatively limited market for the subject, and you get a rather pricey book.
Everything else I can say is positive. This is a well-written account by a dedicated green python keeper who provides near exhaustive information on the care of these potentially delicate snakes in captivity. Nuances of housing, humidity, feeding, and cage size are covered so that there is no excuse for a green python keeper to screw up.
The text is clear, the figures range from simply useful to quite artistic, and the material is about as up-to-date as you can get in a book of any kind. For herpetologists who recall **** Ross's book on husbandry of pythons and boas, this new book is the mature account for a single species of snake. The natural history data alone make this book worth (most of) the price for me!
I like this book, and I recommend it for any herpetologist, even if you do not keep snakes in captivity.
