There is little external difference between the sexes, but the males are often more heavily built especially around the head and neck, and their skin may be more boldly patterned.

If you look around even the sites that claim to be able to tell you the difference in sexes will end it with the statement that the techniques are very If-fy. It is very difficult to distinguish between sexes as there are no reliable visual differences to go by particularly when they are young.
The breeder I got mine from just observes behavior in his animals in order to make a guess as to which are male and female.

Yeah, your guess is as good as mine. Having a male and a female I can tell slight differences, but before them I didn't have the slightest idea.
Pretty much you have to wait to see if you get sperm plugs or see hemis to tell if you have a male, and even then not all males pop out their hemis when they poop.
You could do DNA testing...the price has REALLY gone down lately, that'd give you a definite answer.

How much is it?

It depends who you do it thrugh, call a vet and ask who they send outt heir blood samples to and ask if that lab does DNA sexing. I think we do ours for less than $25 but don't quote me on that!
