Closing in on the dream...

The dream of dreams is coming true, soon I hope. I might get a Blue Tongue Skink before the end of the month. I couldn't find a breeder in my area of ANY blue Tongue skinks, so I went national. None of them will ship, which is when I narrowed things down from a Northern to a IJ Blue Tongue (darker colors only, I'm SOOO picky...but for that price, I have to be!). No breeders are coming to the Alberta Reptile Shows, which almost always consist of leopard geckos, Bearded Dragons, corns and Crested Geckos. Nice Diversity, ugh. Not a single skink in FOUR SHOWS!

...which is where the trail went dead. All pet stores here are either being banned by me for parasite reasons or they only have Northerns and can't get IJ's anytime in the near future. All but given up, I called the last store in town, that one with morals that makes people volunteer before hiring. Even the lizards have good cage sizes there, wow! I found my perfect Blue Tongue Skink....Not the exact color, but actually better. Young, cute and so sweet! The problem? $400 dollars!!!! I'm gonna talk to the owner and see if she'll take a payment plan and perhaps lower the price $100 if I buy a light set up from her at the same time. I'm sooo close!

Have you asked around on bluetongueskinks.net? They have a couplw of breeders up north who might ship. Most babies wont be born for a while yet, if the one at the petstore is a baby still then chances are that it is withC.
$400 is an ungodly price for and IJ...they are readily available usually so I would keep that store in mind but still look at other options.

Another place you can try is to search on kingsnake.com for breeders. Just a thought.

I agree. $400, even Canadian, is outrageous!
I paid $75 US for miine.
But it was at an expo from a breeder.

Hence why I was looking around. No breeders are coming to Alberta this year and I shopped around the internet at sites big and small, none of the ones will ship (or it costs an arm and a leg). I actually like meeting the animal before I buy it, just allows me to connect with it etc.
