European Giant Skink?
Ok is there such a species that's commonly called "European Giant Skink"?
It was mostly burrowed and I could only see the back, but it looked every bit like a blue tongued skink in skin pattern and size. The shop owner said it was not a blue tongue and when I asked what it was he hesitated for like 5 minutes then finally said "I THINK it's called European Giant". And I said "European Giant Skink?" and he said "yeah..." Is there such a thing? I know this is a longshot, but worth a try. It cost too little to be a blue tongue. |

Not sure about the European, but there is a Solomon's Giant Skink, Monkey Tailed skink that can get to 2.5 feet.

Looked like a bluetongue makes b think aong the lines of pink-tounged skink. Soloman Island giant skinks don't burrow if I remember. Considering they are also called monkey TREE skinks.

Yeah, Corucia zebrata goes by many names, including Solomon Island skink, Solomon Island giant skink, Solomon Island monkey-tailed skink, Solomon Island prehensile-tailed skink, giant skink, giant monkey-tailed skink, giant prehensile-tailed skink, monkey-tailed skink, prehensile-tailed skink......you get the idea. They're pretty big. In my opinion, they don't really look like blue-tongues at all, and they're not from Europe at all, but here's some pics:

Could it be a Garnier's Giant Skink? They aren't from europe, but they burrow and display similar coloring to an indonesian blue tongued skink.

Considering that Soloman's Island Tree Skinks are endangered, and usually run about 400 dollars or more than a blue tongue, I doubt it is a Soloman's island (aka Corucia zebrata)
Also, there are no large skinks from Europe. All the really big ones (cept the Soloman's Island, that is) come from Australia, like the Garnier's, Shingleback (aka. Stumptail), Blue tongue etc...as far as I know. |
