Kismets New Cage
Hey Gang,
I setup Kismet in a new cage last week and shared some photos with Blue Tongue Skink.net folks but spaced off sharing with HC. Here are the missing photos from then. There are some changes I have made already that are not reflected here in these photos. She now have a stack of ceramic tiles 12x12 wide under the heat lamp for basking area. She likes to cover the tiles with some of her aspen chips but will wiggle down against them to soak up heat. Also, the top of the cage under the heat lamps has 3/4 of it covered with tin foil to help hold heat in and reduce the moisture evaporation. (I keep it dry but no reason to make it into a skink jerky maker by letting her bake off into the open air). Hope you enjoy! I'll try to get more Kizzy pictures later this week. Hello,
Looks like Kizzy is enjoying it! Thanks for sharing. I would like to see how the tiles looked all stacked up! |

I had my guys on aspen for the longest time, but I eventually got fed up with them filling in their water dishes everyday, and then tipping over their food dishes and scattering all through out the substrate. It all added up to a big stinky mess very quickly!
I've been thinking of building a sort of raised platform and putting the food and water on it and then filling the bottom of the tank with aspen again, but its been 10 degrees outside all week, and i'm not in the mood to get frost bite while working in the garage!
