Well after some very intense research I have come to the conclusion that UV light for these guys isnt necessary, They spend most of their time buried in substrate and live on the forest floor in the wild and not much uv light reachs the forest floor.
Yes I too like the name, and of course ill get pics very soon in fact most likely by the end of the week.

True, but it can still be beneficial. If you can afford to, I'd get it anyway. Can't wait for those pics though! Fire skinks are gorgeous!

He wasnt cheap and I couldnt get them to budge on the price was 50 bucks. Yeah im thinkin bout gettin a UV light anyhow. Ill be gettin pics tomorrow. He just finished shedding. too

Well pics will be in on saturday I couldnt get to the 1 hour place so I just went to the pharmacy down the street and it takes 2 days to get a cd.
Matt u know how he was sneezing, the substrate was way and I mean way to wet I spent a while drying it out in a low temp oven now all its well.

Well Togo is 28 cm long and weighs 90 grams, I am gettin pictures of all the critters tomorrow. I though I was gonna get them today but I dropped them off to late on Thursday to get them today.

Very nice pics. I have always thought the fire skink was a very attractive lizard!
On the subject of UVB for skinks. There seems to be some debate as to whether skinks in general need UVB. Some claim they can absorb dietary d3 and as such do not need the light. and some say they cannot and do need it. Personally I would err on the side of caution. I would hate to see such a beautiful animal twisted up with Metabolic Bone Disease when it could very easily have been prevented.
