My male gold skink, known for being very jittery and scared even during feeding (but still a very aggressive eater), was very hungry today because I missed yesterdays feeding due to a trip out of town. Anyways, he started doing that "begging" behaviour my female skink does where she stands on her back legs and sometimes opens her mouth to demand food (apparently).
Well as he did this...he vocalized. Loudly. It was a high pitch squeak, very clear, very mean sounding. Looks like Geckos and croc skinks aren't the only squeakers out there
The begging and coming up to the tweezers is very rare for him and when I tried it again, this time with a new witness, he ran from the tweezers in normal fashion. Strange...I've seen this happen 3 times now!
