Croc skinks layed an egg!!!

Last night I check out Kaedo (who is now Kiera, cause our "male" layed the egg, lol) and the bulge within the lower part of the belly was HUGE and very very firm, not to mentioned egg shaped.

Well, tonight I observed that both croc skinks were very fidgety and grumpy, but not vocalizing their anger, which is very very odd. They would just run instead of playing dead, which is the norm. Also, she shed for the second time in one month, very indicative of increasing body size due to babies on board (observed from gold skinks and crested gecko who layed infertile eggs).

I FINALLY got hold of Kiera and she dropped ALOT of weight last night. The only reason why she still has a smidge of gravidity shape is cause her heavily keratinized (and ossified underneath) scales prevent a full bounce back to normal shape. Stranger still, niether is hungry but are both hovering around the back right corner of the cage where it is slightly warmer and is covered by bark- the IDEAL spot to lay an egg. We didn't disturb the substrate for fear of the mothers wrath, so we didn't see it, but she definately layed an egg (and actually, right on her due date too)!

The egg is due to hatch January 5th, I'll be keeping good care of it til then!

give it some time, we have yet to procure it...we tore the cage apart, but couldn't find it, meaning it's still in her...The egg is gone from her ovary but it COULD still be in her oviduct, meaning 2 mores days or so til laying...ugh...she's doing it her own little pace. It's not a matter of IF, it's a matter of when in the next few days.

lol I post more pics than anyone, just calm it down a notch for a few days
