Its location is 100% intentional. Getting users in the habit of using the spellcheck button is the goal. By placing it there, most of us accidentally click it before we send the post. This behavior, just like clicking there to submit use to be, will eventually become habit.

I click it accidentally too even when I know the post is spelled correctly.

I think its perfect! I hope every user makes a habit of using it because some of the spelling on this site is atrocious.

It is not going to be moved. I put it there for a very specific reason. It is actually located there on the quick reply, normal reply, new thread, and private message pages. It is apparently doing exactly what it was meant to do if you are clicking it.

It takes all of 10 seconds for it to be used. It makes posts easier to read and it makes them more searchable on the site.

Asking me to move it basically says "I wasn't planning on using it".

LOL I was the same way the first time I hit it. Like most people I just hit where the post reply used to be. When It came up I was like "whaaaaaat?"

I agree. If the first thing that comes up is the spell check they are more likely to use it.

Could it be made to spell check and if nothing is found wrong it automatically posts? That way even when you "know" everything is spelled right, it doesn't take the extra step to post but you can still keep everyone in the habit of pushing that button? I haven't used it only because I already have an add-on to my firefox that spell checks as I go... But I wouldn't mind using that button if I didn't have to then go back and choose post again...

It doesn't take any extra steps to post. If you know it is spelled correctly, just hit the post button and not the spell check button.

I use FF half the time and IE the other half. (I need to see how things look in both so I alternate depending on the day and what I will be doing.)

I have attempted to have it autocheck in the past, but I failed. I can try to look into it again though as I have a function in mind that may work. There are no guarantees though as my last attempts broke things, so I will be trying it "off site". lol

I modified the navbar a bit and made a 2 column stack of the links. This is to help prevent the navigation breadcrumbs from overflowwing and bothering me.

The 760 style will be back when the modifications to the templates are done. I am not doing this 2 times.
