Outdoor Salamanders?

Well I have been thinking that I would really like to keep some salamanders as pets in my yard. I was originally thinking of making a pond but that would be a mosquito larve magnet(which is the opposite of what I need) so I was wondering if its possible to keep some local species of salamanders in my yard as pets? It would only be local species and I live in an area that is heavily settled so there wouldn't be to many predators (except for raccoons skunks and maybe a few coyotes) but I was just wondering if anybody has ever done this and has it worked?

All you can do is set up an appropriate environment for them and if there are some in the area they will find it.
As for mosquito larvae there are a number of controls available to stop that problem!

The only problem is although there are plenty of salamanders in my town I luve in a heavily settled neighborhood and I doubt they would find it. I will look some more into the pond thing.
