Senior Rosy Boa Question

My Rosy is 16 or 17 years old (the guy I got her from couldn't remember exactly how what year he got her). I've been told by several sources that Rosy's only live an average of 15 years. Has anyone here ever had one through the end of their years? I need to know what to keep my eyes out for and if there is any special care I should be doing. (There's no vet near by that is familiar with rosy's).

Thanks!

Re: Senior Rosy Boa Question

Desert and Mexican rosy boas have been known to live 15 years plus, there have been documented cases of up to 20 years in captivity. I really do not think there is any special care involved with an aging snake besides normal feeding cycles and fresh water.

Re: Senior Rosy Boa Question

i would say not to worry about doing anything different for her unless you notice her acting strangely. just keep her regular feeding cycle, just because you have been told that there's a certain period of years they live to, doesn't mean they all live that long. some will live shorter lives and some will live longer, especially with proper care. just make sure your temps are right and humidity is correct (they do not like high humidity, when offering water use a smaller bowl, they do not require access to water 24/7)

i've had my rosy for 3+ years and he's at least 6 years old and doing well.
