Petri relpses, again.
Last night Petri's twitches returned. She ate a ton of food, a bunch of meds. Today she can barely move and has no energy. The disease is progressing, she just can't get that calcium to work for her. Just another peice of evidence for me to believe the underlying condition idea. She's out of energy at the moment, could be cause it's the middle of the night for her. I will keep hoping but with every relapse her condition goes from "probable permanent damage" closer to "Terminal".
It's really tough, I'm supposed to leave tomorrow morning for a once in a lifetime opportunity. I'll be back early though and partway through, just to make sure she's okay.

After a conversing with friends, we set conditions for putting petri down. I don't want to do it and it will devastate everyone I know, but it might have to be done.
If she meets one or both of these criteria, she will be put in the freezer for a quiet death:
1. Paralysis of any limbs determined to be long-term (that is, won't go away within a few hours after medication)
2. Really low energy level. She can't recover if she's out of gas and her energy level is all that has kept her from euthanization thus far.
This has been exceptionally hard on me as Petri is a spokesgecko for the species: I know 3 people that went out and got Crested Geckos just cause of her and 10 others that tried but had intermittent factors preventing it. She has literally changed my life likely more than any other animal I've met, with the exceptions PERHAPS being Gibber or Twitch...and for the record, as my first herp and first herp breeder, twitch is tough to beat.
I'll give updates as I have them and I won't give up on her until she reaches a point with no turning back.
Thanks for the support (especially Savannah).

I'm sorry to hear this. however freezing is no longer considered a humane way to euthanise reptiles. it is much more painful to them than originally thought.

What is the most humane way then? I do the freezer in conjunction with CO2 (sealed bag with no air in it). That way it will be fast.
I thought the process for cooling herps was that their metabolism lowers, they fall asleep and then die, same as CO2.

Actually it has been determined that ice crystals form in the muscles and is supposedly quite painful. Like our muscle cramps. In a pinch I would suggest hooking a hose to a car exhaust and let carbon monoxide do its thing. It will just go to sleep.

I don't have that luxury. Co2 makes them go to sleep as well.

Putting them in a sealed bag with no air in it isn't using CO2, its just slowly suffocating them.
If you don't have a car you could always place him in a bucket with a peice of dry ice and seal the bucket. That would be using CO2 to do the job. CO2 is heavier than air so it will settle into the bottom of the bucket.
