I was wondering what is better, to wait till a female crested gecko is 18 months old before breeder her or till she's a certain weight? If it's the latter of the two then what weight would I be waiting for?

I forgot to add that my female is already around 40 grams in weight. I believe she is big enough but I want to get some opinions first.

Beth,
I don't think you could be more on the money with a viable female. Most recommend at least 35 grams and 14 months. I think 18 months is well old enough.

I agree - 35 grams is the minimum recommended weight and over 12 months should be fine - good luck with the breeding :0

35 grams is recommended. But we can't really put a 'definitive' weight for breeding as their is a lot of individual variation. 45 is where I would keep them if they were constantly breeding.

Better is 35g and 13-14 month. If bred too soon, the females can suffer from sever lack of calcium, because of the still growing of the female AND the egg production.Good luck with your project.
