I got my first ever egg today!!!!
What a day for her to lay - the one day of the year that everyone thinks I am lying!!!!!
She has been digging about for a couple of days. She was sat in her laying box last night but n signs of anything happeneing so I left her to it. Nothing still at 5 this morning.
9 o'clock this morning this is what I was presented with - a nice little egg - just the 1 but she looks okay and has had a bit of food this morning so that is okay
What do ya think

woops- sorry forgot to tell you the size of a £1 coin lol
The coin is 23mm in diameter so not quite an inch so that makes the egg about the same in length awww
I am very proud of Lola (daughter called her that!!) - she has lost about 2g laying it mind but her weight is still okay and we have hopefuylly got another one to arrive yet

Congratulations. When my crestie first laid she only dropped one, then another a few days later, I think it's just their way of settling into the cycles. Make sure her Calcium levels stay up, monitor the sack if you can, egg laying takes a lot of them.

I know Marsha - spring has finally sprung in my house!!!
I do hope that it goes full term but I am more interested in keeping my female healthy and it not taking too much out of her.
Her calcium sacks seem fine - I was concerned weight wise as she didn't really gain a great deal during her egg carrying (that I wasn't totally sure she had got) and has gone down 2g after laying this one.
fingres crossed hey
