Feelin' pretty lucky too...

I recently (yesterday) received 3 gargoyles, my first geckos, and I'm also thrilled. They aren't quite as pretty as some, but in their own way. I call the big yellow marbled male an ogre, so maybe I'll name him Shrek. The pair had their first eggs together just before the breeder sent them. This will be my first breeding adventure as well.... doubly excited. The third is a juvenile female, not pictured, regular marbled, in her own place for now. A little worried as they don't seem to be eating yet in their new homes... but hopefully soon.

They look just wonderful to me, and their colors may change as they adapt to their new surroundings and get over the strss of being shipped. Good luck with the breeding!

They are beautiful! Congratulations - haha I love the name Shrek Good luck with them, please keep us updated on how they go.

Don't worry about them not eating just yet - give them time to settle in. They've had a big change and might take a while to adapt.. leave them alone for a few days and only go in to change water, clean, etc., and then try feeding. They'll be gobbling everything in site before you know it!

They're so cute...

From what I can see of their enclosure (very nice) they shouldn't have much trouble settling in. Like Jay said once they get over the stress and acclimate they'll start eating again.

So if you name the fella Shrek are you gonna name the girl Fiona?

They are pretty sweet! Congratulations Aasagan, seems I'm not the luckiest guy on earth anymore!!
Hope you get as much thrill from them as I'm getting from my own! =)

If you don't mind a few tips from another gargoyle newbie, I had the same eating problem for the first couple of days until I lost patience and put the food right in front of their nose.
I think they were afraid to roam the new enclosure and kept within the same space all day. When I put the food dish mm away from their nose, they started licking it after making sure I wasn't a threat. A couple of days later, they began to search for food on their own.
I began to give them mashed fruit but they wouldn't eat a lot. As soon as I bought baby food, they started feeding much more.

You should ask the breeder what was he feeding them and continue with that diet until you feel they settled in.

As for that breeding pair, I would separate them also. If the female just had laid eggs, she must be tired and the male just wants to keep going! That would be fine if they didn't had the extra stress of traveling + new enclosure and surroundings.
In fact, maybe you should house the females together in that nice terrarium portrayed and keep the male apart.

But anyway, the best option is to contact the breeder and ask for some advice. He knows those animals well, I suppose!

Good luck! =)

Thank you all! In my enthusiasm and ignorance I have probably been too eager. Today is the third day, I'll leave them alone. A bowl of baby food and water is in with them, I finally have a night free to observe nocturnal behavior. I think the juvie female ate her food though, maybe. Thanks for the pointers. The breeder really filled me in already. He had put the pair together two months prior without any violence, and they finally produced their first eggs this week as mentioned. I think he'd advise leaving them together for now, and the enclosure is pretty big. He told me not to put the juvie in with the others until (a) it's gender is confirmed female and (b) it is as big as the others. Seems sensible. Thanks again everyone. Andy

It's wise. Some individuals stress a lot when housed with others (dominance, territory, sociability, etc) and start eating less and less.

On a side note, a lot of people report problems between females when a male is housed with them. I mean, 2 or 3 females were housed together without any problem and as soon as a male is introduced, females start fighting each others, so I would take a lot of care and caution before making changes to the group "dynamic".
